TOMORROW
FOCUS AG, one of Germany's leading internet marketing companies and
London-based Adjug Ltd., operator of an international online
marketplace where advertisers can buy and sell available inventory,
have entered into a strategic partnership which will enable them to
jointly exploit the potential of the German market for advertising
marketplaces. TOMORROW FOCUS AG will provide access to part of its
advertising inventory via Adjug. In return, TOMORROW FOCUS AG will
purchase a 17 percent stake in Adjug within the framework of a capital
increase.
Adjug operates an automated online advertising marketplace which
connects agencies and advertisers directly with publisher inventory at
minimum prices. Unlike many other marketplaces and affiliate networks,
where advertising space on individual websites cannot be purchased
directly, Adjug offers complete advertisement placement transparency.
Advertisers can choose the sites where they want to advertise, and they
can also see how their advertising is performing on these sites.
This new transparency enables the efficient sale of attractive
available inventory to performance and branding-oriented advertisers.
The automated buying process also makes it possible for small or local
advertisers with low budgets to comfortably buy inexpensive advertising
space.
Adjug (www.adjug.com) was
founded in August 2007 by Michael Stephanblome and Satish Jayakumar,
and it has got off to an excellent start in the United Kingdom. Stephanblome
was previously Marketing Director of eBay Germany for 5 years and
Managing Director of Gumtree in the United Kingdom for 3 years. Before
founding Adjug, Satish Jayakumar was Head of European Strategy at
espotting/Miva, where he made a major contribution to the company's
Europe-wide expansion. The management team, headed by Michael
Stephanblome and Satish Jayakumar, unite many years of online
advertising experience and competence in the establishment of European
advertising networks.
The cash purchase price for the 17 percent stake in Adjug is in the
one-digit million euro range, and the entire amount will be invested in
the company. Venture capital firm Balderton Capital of London already
holds a stake in Adjug. In addition to the management, Seb Bishop
(founder of espotting) and René Rechtman have been persuaded to join
the board as business angels. TOMORROW FOCUS AG will be represented on
the board by its Chief Marketing Officer Christoph Schuh.
This shareholding will enable TOMORROW FOCUS AG to establish another
earnings pillar on the online marketplace - in addition to the existing
premium marketing - and to market its advertising inventory in
different ways. The German-language Adjug platform is already being
designed by TOMORROW FOCUS AG and Adjug Ltd.
From an international viewpoint, TOMORROW FOCUS' expansion is a
logical step after the launch of the international PREMIUM PUBLISHERS
ONLINE marketing network in 2007, because it can now also provide an
international marketplace. Christoph Schuh, CMO of
TOMORROW FOCUS AG, commented, "As one of the biggest internet marketing
companies, we are extending our high-reach premium marketing operations
to include an innovative online advertising marketplace business
concept. We are confident that Michael Stephanblome and Satish
Jayakumar will help us to make Adjug a major success in Germany, and
that our advertisers, agencies and marketing partners will all profit
from it."
